Everyone is Talking About Travelers Rest—Here’s Why.
If it feels like Travelers Rest has been popping up everywhere lately, you’re not imagining it.
Over the past few months, TR has continued to catch the attention of national and regional travel publications, earning recognition for everything from its mountain-town charm and outdoor recreation to its walkable downtown and thriving local businesses.
Of course, those of us who know and love Travelers Rest already understand what makes this little corner of the Upstate so special. But it’s always nice when the rest of the country starts to notice, too.
Southern Living Calls Travelers Rest One of the South’s Best Mountain Towns for Fall
Most recently, Southern Living included Travelers Rest in its list of “The 16 Best Southern Mountain Towns to Visit This Fall.”
The publication highlighted TR’s location at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and its easy access to outdoor destinations including Paris Mountain, Table Rock and Caesars Head State Parks. It also called attention to the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail, downtown galleries, breweries, local businesses and places to stay like The Station.
It’s a combination that makes Travelers Rest especially appealing in the fall: spend the morning hiking or biking, come back into town for lunch and shopping, and then settle in for the night without having to leave the mountains behind.

One of South Carolina’s Most Charming Small Towns
That wasn't TR's only recent Southern Living appearance.
In September, the magazine published a feature calling Travelers Rest “One of South Carolina’s Most Charming Small Towns.”
The story dives into the history behind the Travelers Rest name while highlighting many of the experiences that make TR worth more than a quick stop. The Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail, Travelers Rest Farmers Market, Poinsett Bridge, local orchards, restaurants, breweries and accommodations all received attention.
Southern Living specifically highlighted places including Tandem Creperie and Coffeehouse, Farmhouse Tacos, Restaurant 17, Swamp Rabbit Brewery, Hotel Domestique and The Station.
In other words, the secret is definitely getting out.

Named One of South Carolina’s “Cool Places” for a Summer Getaway
Earlier this summer, WorldAtlas included Travelers Rest among its 11 cool places to visit in South Carolina for a 2026 summer vacation.
The recognition once again pointed to something that makes Travelers Rest unique: you don't have to choose between a downtown getaway and an outdoor adventure.
Visitors can bike or walk the Swamp Rabbit Trail, explore the surrounding mountains and then be back on Main Street for coffee, shopping, dinner or a local beer—all in the same trip.
The recognition also caught the attention of the Greenville News, which highlighted Travelers Rest alongside the other Upstate destinations included in the WorldAtlas feature.

Even Our Local Businesses Are Bringing Home Awards
The recognition isn't limited to the town itself.
In September, The Venue at Rose Springs Farm in Travelers Rest was named a 2026 Best of South Carolina Award winner for its wedding and special-event experience.
Even more impressive, this marks the venue’s third consecutive Best of South Carolina recognition following wins in 2024 and 2025.
It’s another example of the locally owned businesses and destinations helping put Travelers Rest on the map.
